Consider parking in our lot, heading out for a hike or a cycle to work up an appetite, and then picking up your dinner on the way home!
We are located adjacent to the Galloping Goose and within easy reach of several incredible west coast parks and marinas.
Here are a few of our favourites that are walkable from our location.
Glenrosa Farm is essentially located at the 30km post marker on the Galloping Goose Trail.
This regional trail is a 55-kilometer rail trail between downtown Victoria, and the ghost town of Leechtown, north of Sooke, where it meets the old Sooke Flowline.
Both directions on the Goose provide beautiful scenery but we think the section between Rocky Point (km 30) —> Roche Cove (km 35) —> Sooke Road (~km40) is quite possibly the most scenic as you wind past Matheson Lake, Roche Cove, and Sooke Basin.
Pedder Bay Marina, Vancouver Island’s premier RV resort and Marina is approximately a 10 minute walk from Glenrosa.
Make a loop by heading east on the walking path opposite Matheson Lake Park Rd. Upon your return from the Marina, follow the signs to the Galloping Goose (via the uphill Galloping Gosling trail), return to Glenrosa via the Goose heading west.
Facilities including a fuel dock, three-lane boat launch ramp, boat rentals and guided fishing charters, gear rental, a tackle shop and more!
Matheson Lake is a tucked away gem in our Westshore parks system. The park offers nature appreciation, hiking, swimming and fishing.
From Glenrosa's parking lot, the lake trail is accessed by heading west on the Galloping Goose. Follow the signage to find a single track trail with some challenging steep sections, roots, and rocks goes around the lake or a modified loop is available that utilizes one side of the lake trail and the Galloping Goose. Depending on the loop, the hike is approximately 5-6.5km and takes about 2-2.5 hours depending on pace and length of breaks.
More information on the trail can be found here.
